This week, The Shining continues with chapters 8 through 13 of the novel as we begin and complete Part 2 closing day.

Jack and his family arrive at the Overlook Hotel and Danny learns a bit about his gift.

Matt, what did you think about this week's reading?

This is delightful.

I really enjoy the time we're spending with Danny, actually. I think that I'm going to, you know, mark out the things that I find surprising, you know, given that I've consumed all these adaptations. And one of the main things that I find surprising so far is how much time we're spending with Danny. You could argue that Danny is the main point of view character of this entire bit.

I mean, obviously, we spend some time in Wendy's head.

We move around a bit, but we keep returning to Danny.

Danny is almost the anchor narratively.

And I'm surprised by that.

I didn't realize that Danny was something like a, I mean, it's like, who is the

protagonist of this story?

I think that's going to be an interesting question as we go forward because I just was coming

into it.

I was like, obviously Jack's the protagonist.

And now I'm like, all three of these, all three of the members of this family seem like

...
