Today's episode is one I've been excited about for a long time ever since I saw the notice of

publication. Speaking with the author Chris Miller read his new book, Chip War, The Fight for the

World's Most Critical Technology. You've probably heard about microchips, more and more and more in

the news cycle. Everything from the shortages last year that affected everything from Ford trucks

to the production of phones and computers and the increasing debate about how the United States

should handle the fact that a vast majority of the world's microchips are produced in Taiwan

and therefore a possible conflict of China over the island could severely restrict and damage

the world's supplies of microchip technologies. There's also a broader conversation following

the passage of the Chips Act this summer, but whether or not the United States can bring back

the production of microchips to the United States despite the fact that while this industry

originated here, we lost it over the course of a four to fifty year period that Chris and I will

get into. While I said this is definitely something that's going to be heard about more and more

over time, so I hope this deep dive is a great first introduction to the topic.
