Our story starts in New Orleans, Louisiana.

On October 17th, 2006, it had been a little over a year

since the category 5 Hurricane Katrina had hit the city.

Causing $125 billion in damage and killing nearly 2000 people,

many New Orleansans fled the area before the hurricane came through,

but some people stayed to wait out the storm.
