As more and more states legalize marijuana, the general acceptance of cannabis as safe and medicinal has sort of taken hold.

But studies show that isn't the case, especially among those diagnosed with ADHD.

Those with the tension deficit carry a higher risk for

substance use problems and are especially vulnerable to cannabis's effects

physically and psychologically. Those effects are mostly negative. Cannabis can adversely

affect motivation, memory, focus, processing, and learning. It can also affect balance, posture, coordination, and reaction time and not in a good way.

Dr. Oliveardia is a clinical psychologist and lecturer in psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.
