In the last episode, we focused on the Father of the Prodigal Son.

Today we're looking at the older brother, the responsible one who stayed home and

did what was expected and honored his family.

Jesus included the older brother character in this story to remind us that we don't

decide who's in and who's out.

The Father recognized his son even when he stumbled toward him, dirty and broken.

And the older brother? Well, he was still invited to the party.

Luke chapter 15, why don't we say a prayer and then we will get straight to work.

Granto, heavenly Father, heart hearts that are softened by your kindness,

minds that are opened by your spirit and wills that are shaped by your purpose.

Forgive our speaker, his sins are many.

Help us to see Christ, just Christ, through Christ we pray. Amen.

Luke chapter 15 ends with these seven verses.

The older son was in the field and as he came closer to the house, he heard the sound of music

and dancing. So he called to one of the servants and asked what all this meant.

The servant said, your brother has come back and your father has killed the fat calf

because your brother came home safely.

The older brother was angry and he would not go into the feast.
