Summary

Happy Friday Beauty Byters!

In this week’s Five Minute Friday, I am talking about the amazing benefits of stem cell growth and the fascinating mechanism it creates in the foundation of your skin! Aging causes the growing mechanisms of the foundation and components of your beautiful skin starts to become less productive. Skin will start to break down from all the oxidated damage, sun pollution, chemicals, trauma of daily wear-and-tear, and aging. Fine lines and wrinkles will start to show more, collagen break-down, loss of elasticity, loss of tone and skin texture.  Stem cell growth has been used for wound repair, and much of the research related to skin has been related to this regenerative ingredient. If you have a question or something you’d like covered on the podcast, send me a DM or email info@beautybydrkay.com and I’d be happy to respond!

0:19.0

and it's time for a five-minute Friday. So let's talk

0:22.5

all about stem cell growth factors. And this is such an exciting topic. You guys have all

0:29.5

heard of stem cells. You may have heard of stem cell growth factors, but I want to explain to you

0:34.9

why they are so important and such a great ingredient to include

0:38.7

in your skin care regimen. So growth factors have been around for a long time, first discovered

0:44.6

in the 1980s by Dr. Rita Mantalachini and Dr. Stanley Cohen, who were awarded the Nobel Prize

0:52.6

in physiology for studying these epidermal growth

factors. But their research has had such major impact in our understanding of human

1:01.0

cellular reproduction and growth. If you need to know more about growth factors, we start back

1:06.9

there in the 80s with the understanding that stem cells are foundational cells. These are

1:13.5

cells that are found within our regenerative systems of the body like our bone marrow,

1:18.4

our spleen. And these are the cells that are going to differentiate from one pluripotent

1:25.5

cell into multiple different cells all throughout your body.

1:29.5

Stem cells communicate with each other by producing and releasing proteins called cytokines and

1:35.1

growth factors.

1:36.1

And when they're grown in a laboratory sitting in a plate, a petri dish, they're going to

1:41.0

make this wonderful brew sort of like a juicy nutrient broth that comes

1:46.8

from their living together and growing up and excreting certain cytokines and factors.

1:53.3

When these growth factors are released, they can bind to cells and cell membranes

1:59.0

and trigger all these amazing activation pathways that tell your

2:04.0

superficial tissues of your skin to wake up and start behaving more youthfully.
