Summary

It is such a gift for young mothers to glean wisdom from an older mother who has gone before.  As a mother of four adult children who have launched into the world and begun beautiful careers and families of their own, Sally Clarkson dedicates much of her time to mentoring the next generation of mothers.  A conversation with Sally feels like a warm cup of tea with a dear friend, so join us for this chat about what we wish we knew as younger mothers, how to embrace each child’s unique personality, why creating delight in each day is so life-changing, and more.  No matter what stage of motherhood you are in or how old your children are, I am confident this episode with Sally will bless and encourage you.

In this episode, we cover:

  • A snapshot of how Sally spends her days currently and how that led to her latest book
  • Offering young mothers the perspective of a mother on the other side of the little years
  • Weighing what commitments to say yes or no to in various seasons of family life
  • The power of simple rhythms in establishing an environment of peace and stability in the home
  • A few basic self-care necessities that we easily forget in the trenches of motherhood
  • How a mother’s approach to parenting shifts as children move into adulthood
  • What it looks like practically to embrace and cultivate each unique personality under your roof
  • These are the things that young moms can stop worrying about
  • Encouragement for mothers who are walking through a difficult season
  • Include THIS in your life every day to change the atmosphere of your home
  • If you are looking for connection and community, start with this simple step

One time one of my kids said to me, you know, mom, the house becomes a wreck, and then we clean it up, and then it's a wreck again, and then we clean it up. It's just a cycle. But when you're happy, everything goes better. And when you're not happy, we all feel guilty. So chill, mom, and just enjoy life. He was right. The nature of having all these children in your home is that it's going to be clean and dirty, clean and dirty dishes, clean dishes. There's a part of each of us that needs to accept we are limited.
