natural disaster Hurricane Helene is being compared to Katrina. It has to be pretty bad to get compared to Hurricane Katrina.

How bad is it? Well, joining us to give us an update on Hurricane Helene relief efforts, Dr. Ross Johnson,

he's director of disaster response for the Lutheran Church, Missouri Senate,

and he joins us from North Carolina.

Dr Johnson, welcome back.

Hi, thanks for having me again.

Where in the disaster zone have you visited

and what have you seen so far?

Yeah, so a few days ago I arrived in Tampa. I started at the southern part of the storm where the storm came on to land

and spent some time in Tampa.

At first when the storm hit, we knew that it was going to be a category three or category four and typically when a hurricane comes in it's the first 50 miles from landfall typically to the right side of it or the

eastern side of the storm is where you're going to get almost always the worst impact

of the storm and after the first night we waited until the next morning and we kind of got an all clear in that big bend area of Florida where where Helene came in.

And so we were starting to breathe a sigh of relief.

Wow, the impact isn't that bad.
