And this will be the fourth time that I've gone north for work, and I have to admit I'm more

nervous about it than I've ever been years prior.

I can't shake the feeling this voyage will be significant, but perhaps that is because I intend

for it to be my last.

My wife, Lori, and I are expecting a newborn girl soon, and this money will help us have a home

for our new family.

For this reason, I figure I should pass along all that I've learned to anyone else that

might be also thinking of spending the next six to eight weeks on a boat here.

Some of these tips can likely

be found on a million other posts just like this one, but it's good to be reminded, and it's

even better if this is your first time. Here goes. And bring appropriate socks once they

keep your feet warm and away from moisture.

Okay, I cannot stress that enough.

It's going to be freezing and you don't want frostbite on your toes.

And get plenty of them too.

You're going to be on your feet the majority of the time and you're going to need to swap them out pretty often

just to stay dry. If you can, get wool. And don't dress to impress. This is a dirty job. I remember

one girl came in a pantsuit and hardly lasted a day and a half. Another time a guy brought his whole wardrobe.
