Summary

What is the #1 missed opportunity I see leaders make while onboarding new team members?

I see it all the time.  You have a new team member.  You give them an actionable assignment.  They make commitments to do it.  And then a week goes by and NOTHING happens.

However, instead of calling that team member out, you make it totally OKAY because you're afraid of pushing them away.

And so the same pattern continues and eventually that team member fades away.

It's a scenario that we've ALL experienced.

However, we have to ask ourselves as leaders, what are the long term effects of not ever having the tough conversations with new team members?

Here's the thing – when we have the tough conversations with the right people, it actually creates MORE trust and a closer relationship – it doesn't push them away.

Calling out the right person is not going to push them away. It's going to draw them closer.

We talk about this and more on this week's podcast episode.
