the censorship industrial complex to suppress dissent

across a range of areas and it seems to be pretty effective and it all seems to be

happening under the radar. The coordination seems to be happening at quite a high level. It isn't just

you know NGOs and lobby groups and charities. It's also governments and

government agencies and before we know it we'll wake up and find that there are just huge number of things we're not allowed to say any.

It's great to have you on on and I want you on primarily to do a stock

take on freedom of speech in your capacity as the founder and director of the Free Speech Union.

It still makes me laugh that when you set that up people said we didn't need a free speech union. Very clearly we did.

In that capacity you know more than most about where things are at in relation to freedom of speech, which I think you and I both agree

is the core freedom in a civilized society. So I guess I want to start off with a broad question,

which is how you see 2023 in relation to the free speech question.
