He received his B.A. in Physics from Cornell University in 1967 and his Ph.D. in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1972. After postdoctoral work at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, he joined George Mason University and was University Professor of Interdisciplinary Sciences there from 1984-2008. He has authored and co-authored numerous books including The Conscious Universe, The Non-local Universe, and Principles of Integrative Science. He is a recipient of the Rustum Roy Award from the Chopra Foundation, which “honors individuals whose devotion and commitment to their passion for finding answers in their field is matched only by their commitment to humanity” and the IEEE Orange County Chapter – Outstanding Leadership and Professional Service Award. He has been interviewed numerous times by national and international TV networks, newspapers and radio programs. 0:28.6	My name is Rick Archer, and I'm out at the Science and Non-Nuality Conference in San Jose, California, with some friends, with a lot of friends.
0:35.6	But at the moment I have three, Sally Kempton,
0:39.3	Igor Kufayev, and Manas Kaffetos.
0:43.3	And the reason I assembled this little conversation that we're about to have is that a question
0:49.3	always rumbles around in my brain, which is I'll articulate it as best as possible.
0:54.3	If consciousness is the ultimate reality, and if there is an ultimate reality, then everything
1:00.4	must actually be that reality.
1:02.8	If we take this glass and we start to go more and more microscopically, we get down to
1:07.5	the point of which there is no glass, and if we go far enough, we get down to the point at which what we find is what we find if we do that with anything in creation.
1:17.6	So, is there really a glass, or is there only that which we find when we get right down to the real nitty gritty?
1:24.6	And if that is the case, then how do glasses and tables and palm
1:30.1	trees and buildings and people appear? Is it an illusion that we're seeing all these things?
1:35.3	So anyway, I could elaborate on that, but I got to talking with Igor about this, and he said,
1:40.8	well, you know, Kashmir Shivism addresses this very beautifully, and perhaps we could have a little panel discussion when we get out there in which we'll discuss this in light of or with reference to Kashmir Shaivism.
1:55.0	And so these three panelists came to mind.
1:58.0	Sally and Menas were both students of Swami Mukdenada, and I believe that Kachman Shaivism
2:03.6	was very much the foundation of his tradition.
2:05.6	And Igor was not, but is somewhat of an expert in that field as well.
2:11.6	So I thought it would be very interesting to have this conversation.
2:14.6	And it's not something that was being done within the context of the formal conference, so we just set it up on the side.
