Summary

Laura talks with Jim and Lisa about her campaign to place a statutory duty on the responsible public protection authorities - police, prison and probation services - to ensure serial and serious domestic violence perpetrators and stalkers are proactively identified, assessed and managed on a national basis.

As a group of senior cross party MPs and select committee chairs tabled an amendment to the Domestic Abuse Bill, Laura highlights harrowing and haunting cases across her 25 year career demonstrating how women are being spectacularly failed every single day and that we can’t afford to ignore the patterns of behaviour any longer.

0:21.0	When Holly ended her relationship with Asha Mazlin, she thought she had finally escaped the grip of a terrifying and violent bully.

1:04.0	Mazlin ran off into the night leaving a scene of devastation in the salon. Panic ensued as Holly's colleagues and clients desperately tried to save her life.

1:26.0	How to bear the unbearable loss of a daughter?
1:32.0	Holly was bright. She was bubbly. She had a massive smile and people say that when she went into a room, she lit the room up.
1:41.0	Holly Gazzard was just 19. From the very beginning of her relationship with Asha Mazlin, her family had misgivings.
1:48.0	He turned up drunk to a family meal, put her down in front of them. But they had no idea of the extent of his control.
1:55.0	Holly never had a bruise on her. You know, so it was generally the financial and emotional abuse for Holly.
2:02.0	I remember Holly waking up to snack. I think it was 60 missed calls she had once.
2:06.0	We tried to protect her as much we could. But with Holly, if you did too much of that, we would have pushed her away.
2:12.0	The control escalated. When she finally tried to break it off, Mazlin stabbed her 14 times in the salon where she worked.
2:19.0	The warning signs of endless control and mind games had all been there. A damning report into the police handling of the case was a wake-up call.
