Today I speak to Faiza Shaheen, who has been referred

to as the British AOC.

FISA is the director of the Think Tank Class,

which stands for Center for Labor and Social Studies.

She's an anti-osterity, activist, and academic.

Last month, she ran as a labor candidate

against Tory member of parliament Ian Duncan Smith. She wasn't able to unseat him but she did do

significant damage to his support base which is always nice. FISA talks to me

about what happened with the British elections, the lessons learned, where the British

left goes from here, what the American left can take away from this, and what's next for her.

Also, I recorded a Patreon-only episode with FISA in which she answers some really interesting

questions from listeners which they tweeted out plus I ask her about Hugh Grant

and Eddie Isard both of whom stumped for her campaign also Fiza reads an op-ed that she the nighting her opponent, he and Duncan Smith, who caused so much harm and

destruction and pain not only for countless people in Britain, but for FISA's

mother in particular through his austerity programs.
