I'm your host Heather Ashley and today's case is out of Ellington, Connecticut.

And this is a case that you guys have been asking me to cover for years the murder of Connie debate.

This is a case that took me weeks to dig through all the court records and data,

so this is going to be more than one part but as always small talk sucks so let's dive in. Connie Margotta debate was the kind of person you knew you could always count on.

Whether you physically needed something, needed a shoulder to cry on,

or just needed to laugh, Connie was the person you would call to make life better.

On July 4th of 2003, Connie married a man named Rick Debate.

He worked as a computer network administrator, while Connie had a lot of success as a pharmaceutical rep.

They bought a nice house in an upscale neighborhood in Ellington

and went on to have two children together which were both boys.

Those boys were the center of Connie's entire world. As soon as they were born,

it was like she had found pieces of her heart that she didn't know were missing and everything just seemed perfect.

From the outside looking in you would think that Connie and Rick's life have been ripped straight

from the scenes of a Hallmark movie, Two kids, a big house with a sprawling yard in a fancy

neighborhood, nice vacations, and successful careers.

They appeared to be living the suburban dream, but as we all know, appearances can be deceiving.

One of Rick's friends later told police that Rick and Connie were not happy, in part because they were total opposites.

Connie had a type A personality, she liked to plan and organize, while Rick was more laid back.

Rick would often complain about not having enough personal time and would refer to his wife as a bitch, so shitlist already.

Connie's complaints, however, were things like Rick being the kind of guy who thought he was babysitting, when in reality it's called parenting.

Money also disappeared into the abyss when Rick was around, and Connie was constantly left trying to teach him how to adult and keep the family afloat.
