The biggest leap of faith was saying goodbye to my friends, family, comfort, the full-time job offer, all of it, and just saying I'm going to follow my heart to move to LA to pursue acting.

I had such close friends. I have none of them now. None of my friends that I had

pre-spiritual awakening are in my life now and I felt that risk even

then what happens if I move away from all of these people what happens if I move away from all of these people? What happens if I move away from my family? What about

wasting time? Here I am one of the most promising young employees in this ad agency and know that I would crush this. I have a bright career ahead of me here if I want to move into advertising and to say no to all of that and go and live in my aunt and uncle's garage to pursue an acting career

was the first time in my life that I made a decision that didn't make logical sense was what my heart was calling me towards.

decision and in the case of today's guest spoken word poet and artist Adam Roa, it began with a decision to leave behind a comfortable job in

advertising to follow his heart and move to Los Angeles in pursuit of an acting

career. But after years of rejection and struggle in the acting world,

Adam hit rock bottom and that led him to a spiritual awakening. And it was during this time of

transformation that Adam attended an event in Santa Monica where he witnessed spoken word poetry for the first time and something in that moment clicked.

Adam went home that night, he wrote his first poem, and within days he wrote

another poem that would later on go viral and have over 200 million views and launch his new career as a poet and an artist. Let's

listen in. I moved to Los Angeles. I lived in my aunt and uncle's garage. They had a garage in the back that they converted to have a bathroom in it and a little like area that I just called home and I worked in a restaurant when I first got there and I was alone. I didn't have any friends. I didn't know anyone and I wasn't in LA where you go out. I was in El Monte, California.

And that just sounds far far away.
