Summary

It's been a bit of a rough go for Obsidian as of late. Compared to their usual RPG triumphs, Avowed felt quite a bit less than that. However, not all of it was entirely their fault. At one point, Xbox chose to make this the $80 game that would lead the charge in a new era of high prices. After considerable pushback, they chose to drop the price to $70. While a welcome sight, some have debated if even that is a fair price point for what appears to be a AA RPG. Now, marketing has kicked the hornet's nest with the latest companion trailer. So, here we are. Cog and Matty played the prologue section of the game and our thoughts are mixed. There certainly wasn't a "sound the alarm" moment, but it read to the Dukes like a less confident showing. Much of what makes an Obsidian RPG great is here. However, after the preview failed to show how that would be executed, both Dukes were left feeling like there is more that could've been done. Now, the tough decision falls to Xbox. Do you risk another preview and overexpose the game to try and correct things? Do you ride into launch and hope for the best? Time will tell, but we only have to wait until October to learn just how worth it Outer Worlds 2 will be. thing to the next thing, to the next thing. There is no breaks. I'm like, Jesus. Not that I'm complaining.

1:07.2

Nothing I'm complaining. You know, so so obviously we work hard and we're very appreciative

1:11.4

of things and opportunities and stuff. But it's just like, man, like when stuff happens,

1:17.2

you got to be selective. You just can't do everything. Oh, it's a tough window right now, dude. There's

1:22.4

just so much. I mean, whatever writing is about that. We'll talk about it in a moment. But there's

1:26.2

just so much. It's so much.

1:28.1

Like, I'm catching up on KCD2 while I'm looking at what I'm reviewing right now.

1:32.4

And I'm trying to balance the two because I kind of have doing it a little bit differently.

1:35.3

I normally, normally, I'm like, review all in.

1:38.0

But I'm trying to actually balance the backlog with what I'm reviewing.

1:41.6

And it's been a challenge. I've never had to do this, but it just speaks to how much content's there and stuff that's interesting to cover. It's funny because right now, I was talking to a friend about it last night. I was like, I don't really have a game I've attached my channel to since Oblivion remaster. Right now there's nothing that like my audience and I are like collectively,

heavily anticipating that we're excited about at least. So it's just like this weird wall where I'm just kind of floating from game to game. I'm like a free agent right now. And I'm sure you feel the same way. It's like we can just kind of do whatever, wherever. It's fun, but I feel you on it. Yeah, it's been fun. Yeah, because it's like also with me, you know,

2:24.6

I've been very convention heavy, you know, and very indie independent game scene heavy. And,

2:32.2

yeah, just came back from anime NYC. That was interesting. I saw some digs and trends that blew by by besides the fact. Oh, yeah, bro. I've been there once.
