Today, we're going to be in the book of First John, and we had done a podcast about the

first few words of First John a little earlier on, but to remind you, John is the Apostle

John.

He is the last of the Apostles.

He outlives all of them, and he endures a lot of suffering in his old age.

But he is the youngest Apostle who was, as the Bible describes him, the Apostle or the

disciple that Jesus loved.

So John had this incredibly close relationship with Jesus.

And he was as the youngest disciple, kind of like a little brother, to the others, and

he had that kind of relationship with Jesus as well.

And so John now is in his ripe old age.

He has fathered churches, so he is the spiritual father to many.

And he's overseeing these churches.

He's speaking truth into their lives in the books of First, Second, and Third John.

And he's doing so because there's been some false teachers who went into the congregation

and pulled people out.

Now, what those false teachers were teaching, we don't know exactly every point.

We do know some.

We do know that they were teaching that Jesus did not come to earth in the flesh.
