First, Sam runs through updates on US election polling, Israel and the Biden Administration, Israel’s potential attack on Iran, student loans, fake reviews, labor action with Kaiser healthcare workers, medical abortion statistics, and Trump’s newest legal woe before watching Owen Shroyer demonstrate the right’s new tact toward young men: trying to make women seem hysterical for caring about their rights. Sam also touches on some data around the public perception of the Harris and Trump campaigns, the importance of Harris’ major social policy announcements, and the growing role of Gaza in certain swing states. Anna Heetman then joins, diving right into an outline of the ongoing fight from the Independence Tower and Quality Hill Towers tenant unions against the (ongoing) malpractice in the management, ownership, sale, and maintenance of their buildings, tackling the extensive membership of these tenant unions within the context of these towers, and walking through the laundry list of safety, security, health, and well-being concerns that has pervaded life in these complexes over the tenure of multiple owners. After briefly expanding on the chaos particularly brought on by the exploitative ownership of Parker Webb and FTW Investments, Heetman walks Sam through the major purpose behind this intensive organizing effort and rent strike, beyond even the more obvious material needs of tenants, exploring how this fight has highlighted the needs for greater regulation of federally-backed loans for property purchases, and rent control. Wrapping up the free half, Sam covers Trump’s dropping poll numbers among his key demographics.
