This kind of identity and obsession is deeply unhelpful because what it does, it fragments

the working classes. Much of this being imported from the United States where you're almost

seeing the rebirth of segregation. And I don't want to see that in Britain at all because

I think part of being a mature, multi-racial democracy is that you thrash out those issues

together and that might need to disagreements, indeed hostilities as well. It's better

to thrash that out as opposed to being separated and you have your space, I'll have my space.

Because what that ultimately leads to is racial fragmentation.
