Summary
JOIN ME IN A SOCIAL MEDIA DETOX FROM FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27TH UNTIL FRIDAY, OCTOBER 4TH!
Today I'm chatting with Allie Hobson! Allie is a Certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, focusing on holistic nutrition & healing. She became a nutritionist because she was inspired by her own health journey that at the time, began with the wish of wanting to start a family in the near future. Along that path she discovered that she was dealing with thyroid autoimmunity, adrenal stress and a cascade of hormonal imbalances. Through the healing power of food, supplements, Chinese medicine and other holistic modalities, Allie was able to overcome and manage these health challenges and just recently gave birth to happy and healthy baby boy in February.
Allie runs her own consulting business, Barefood Nutrition, and works as a Nutritionist at 2 San Diego clinics, focusing on holistic primary care and substance abuse. When Allie is not working with patients or clients, she co-hosts a podcast called Nutrition-ish, partners as an advocate for safer skincare and is now taking on the new role of Mommy to her son Asher.
In this episode, we discuss Allie's life as a mom, problems with mom shaming, and how having a baby has affected her social life and relationships. We talk about body image, how Allie overcame amenorrhea, tips for ending the overtraining / undereating cycle, and Allie's journey with Hashimoto's. We also talk about what to do if your partner disagrees with your approach to healthcare, alternatives to the traditional glucose test, and what goes into giving a natural birth. Allie goes over the many decisions to make during pregnancy, the struggles of breastfeeding, and much more.
