| 0:16.2 | about God. That's an exciting topic to me because God is everything that matters. And we've been wondering, been |
| 0:28.0 | curious these last few episodes about what it means that God revealed himself to Moses by the name that he did. |
| 0:38.0 | The name God revealed was the Hebrew word Yahweh, which literally translated means I am. |
| 0:46.4 | And since God does nothing by accident, everything is intentional, we know that he had meaning, he had purpose in describing himself by that name, |
| 0:57.0 | by identifying himself in that way. And so what does that mean? |
| 1:02.1 | Well I've been talking about a few things and today I want to highlight |
| 1:05.6 | that I believe when God says that he is the I am that that's his name. He's saying |
| 1:12.0 | that everything that is not God depends totally on God. He is the primary thing in the universe. |
| 1:25.0 | So that means that the entire universe is utterly secondary. |
| 1:32.0 | It came into being by God and it stays in being moment by |
| 1:38.8 | moment on God's decision to keep it in being. These days you hear a lot of people talking about |
| 1:46.8 | the universe willing something. Oh the universe brought that to me or the |
| 1:51.8 | universe showed me this or that. |
| 1:55.0 | Folks, biblically speaking, |
| 1:58.0 | the universe is a created thing |
| 2:01.0 | like a rock. It's just bigger. It's just more complex. But it's a created thing. It doesn't |
| 2:10.0 | have the ability, the capacity to will something for you or to cause something to happen. |
| 2:17.6 | God is the final cause. The universe not being God is totally dependent on God. It's secondary. |
| 2:28.0 | That means that we too are totally dependent on God. We talked a few episodes back about how God is entirely independent. |
| 2:40.0 | And him being the Creator of all makes all creation dependent on him. |
