as phenomenon of the 20th and the 21st century, but the history of this idea that human life is more or less expendable,

especially if it's a human life towards its end or marked by some kind of disability or intense suffering.

So what is a Christian response to this idea that has gained so much ground in Western

Europe, in Canada, and to a degree in the United States of death with dignity.
