As I'm eating I had a story just come to my mind that I wanted to share with y'all.

There was a time I was in grad school and I was running for I think black graduate student association like Vice President or something like that and I remember I was a part of the chapter last year and there was nobody fulfilling the role the next year.

And so me and this girl was going to run because the student body,

like we're just going to take the places because nobody wanted the place,

but then somebody was like, well,

how can they take the place without a vote because

somebody had found out about it and so we're gonna do a vote right so it's gonna

me another girl and some other people that wanted to run all of a sudden now and

I was gonna run and I think at some point I was

hearing other people's speeches and I was really thinking to myself why am I

doing this? I'm going to be running for vice president. It's going to give me more work to do,

more of my time is going to be taken. Why am I doing this? And I just didn't have a good reason.

I didn't have a good reason of why me being the vice president of the

Black Graduate Student Association was good for me other than the title other than the title there

was really no like passion or why I'm doing this and so everybody went and I said oh I'm not going to go I'm good and at the end I think one of the guys was like oh so you decided not to write anymore and I said yeah I think I'm good and I let them have it and it just kind of reminded me how sometimes we can

get caught up in politics and titles and just having a title to have a title and we do these things to get a title but we're not even

sure that we really love what we're doing behind that title. We just do it to get

the title. And I think in that moment I kind of realized that well I was just like what

the fuck am I doing it? It's going to my time why am I doing this like what's really the

passion behind it and so this is just a reminder to anybody out there

that whatever it is that you are doing for yourself whatever job whatever career or whatever it is that you are doing for yourself, whatever job, whatever career, whatever it is.

Think about why you're doing what you're doing and if you actually are enjoying what you're doing,
