But it's easy to see it in just about every online comment thread that there are numerous people trolls or not

Who start to join conversations with the sole intent of winning?

Sometimes a win looks like validation in the form of likes and retweets more followers or the satisfaction of being right

Sometimes it's about making another person so anger upset that they fight back for hours or hit the block button

This sounds like a way to time for everyone involved, but in thick of these conversations

It can really feel impossible to walk away. I will admit I've been on both sides

The desire to win is infectious and when it's the topic I'm passionate about women's rights for example

It can feel imperative to be a conversational adversary
