Bright, unyielding light clouded my vision.

I squeezed my eyes shut and groaned as I sat up. My head immediately began to

spin and I felt the sudden urge to vomit. I turned expecting to find the trash can that I kept

beside my bed, but it wasn't there. Instead, I was greeted by a sight that nobody wants to

wake up to.

I found myself lying on a bench.

I winced at the cool sensation that surged through me as I sat up in my feet at the concrete floor.

Fated, green bars separated me from the office outside, where an officer sat, typing away on his phone.

Dred settled into the pit of my stomach, mingling with whatever nauseating concoction of drinks that I had consumed the night prior.

I couldn't contain it anymore.

My insides lurched, and before I had a chance to react, vomits erupted out of my mouth and spewed all over the floor of my cell.

Hey, come on now, boy. If you were feeling sick, you should have spoke up.

The officer stood from his chair and approached, a deep frown stamped across his face.

I coughed up one last chunk of undigested corn

casserole then glanced up at the man standing before me. To him, I must have looked like

a worm, a pathetic 20-year-old kid who couldn't handle his liquor. Normally I would have spoken up,

but in that situation his cold stare felt warranted.

Look, officer, this must be some kind of mistake.
