Why does it seem that sometimes the most spiritually mature men/families are reluctant to joining a local church? A question that on the surface seems rather puzzling or maybe as though it was an enigma. This has been the case in our own experience in the families we have been a part of and it seems to be the case in many people that we observe from a distance.
We both had similar experiences in our homes growing up. We had fathers that were proactively and very intentionally leading our families in a spiritual manner. They were reading the Bible every day at home. They were studying the Word to understand it and to really be able to defend and articulate their faith. They had a great desire to see their children grow up and walk in the faith. They wanted to equip us with the ability to do that. They also both went through a season of being reluctant to be a consistent part of any local church and opposed to anything formal and official. We were curious what brought this common thread into so many Godly men that we knew of that have been so intentional in leading their homes and families.
Today we are going to talk about what we think our father’s journey was like of not having a high value on the local church, to now definitely having a high value of it and being consistent to their church and why, as well as what we’re planning on doing. We have really come to value the local church and home groups the last three years. It has been such a blessing to our spiritual growth and family. If you aren’t a consistent part of a local body, we highly encourage you to be!

1:40.0 | One are four year old, stop sucking his thumb. So that's been a big deal because we always. |
1:49.0 | I teach my kids to suck their thumbs on their little. I know it's controversial. |
1:53.0 | Well, I can't believe you just admitted that, but I just love that they have their thumb so handy. |
1:57.0 | It's like way easier than trying to find the pass fire. So for me, it just simplifies things. |
2:01.0 | And I was a thumb sucker, so I'm partial to it. |
2:06.0 | There's that. But then you have to train them to not do it at some point. |
2:10.0 | And so I feel like we came up with a great system with Leon and Lucy where we put socks on their hands. |
2:17.0 | And then we would use bandage tape to tape the socks on because that was kind of the accountability so that I knew they weren't popping the sock off in the middle of the night sucking their thumb and putting them back on. |
2:31.0 | And then they would get a tech tech in the morning or half a piece of gum every day that they kept the socks on. |
2:38.0 | And after four or five days, then we went to these little like Amazon gloves that they. |
