Join Bryan Dean Wright, former CIA Operations Officer, as he dives into today's top stories shaping America and the world. In this Friday Headline Brief of The Wright Report, Bryan opens with the latest on "deal or no deal" with Iran, as the U.S. and Tehran remain far apart on a peace agreement over Iran's enriched nuclear material and its demand to control the Strait of Hormuz, while the Pentagon prepares for renewed military action if talks fail.

He also covers growing signs of U.S. pressure on Cuba, including the arrival of the USS Nimitz strike group in the Caribbean, CIA Director John Ratcliffe's recent trip to Havana, and the DOJ indictment of former Cuban leader Raul Castro. Bryan then turns to a deepening investigation into Neville Roy Singham, the Communist activist living in Shanghai under China's protection, whose money allegedly supports socialist and leftist groups across the United States, including networks tied to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

Plus, Bryan breaks down socialist backlash in Seattle and New York as wealthy residents and major companies threaten to leave over tax hikes, the 42-year prison sentence for Feeding Our Future fraud figure Aimee Bock, and a major clash between President Trump and GOP senators over the SAVE Act, the filibuster, and Trump's legislative agenda. He closes with updates on China's looming critical mineral export controls, Trump's new $2 billion quantum computing push, Ebola in Congo, Hantavirus research in the Pacific Northwest, and promising cancer research on pancreatic tumors and vitamin D for breast cancer surgery recovery.

It's May 22nd. I'm Brian Dean Wright, former CIA operations officer, and this is The Wright Report.

Hey, good day to you, ladies and gentlemen, Welcome to The Wright Report, Your Daily News, podcast.

0:22.3

It's Friday's headline brief. Heavy on News, light on analysis, launching us into the weekend

0:27.4

with events that as ever are shaping America in the world. We begin with global news this morning.

0:34.6

Starting with deal or no deal with Iran, Raiders News Service and Bloomberg report

0:39.9

that the U.S. and Iran are still a pretty fair distance away from locking down a peace deal with

0:45.2

issue number one. Yep, you guessed it, still being Iran's secret nuclear program. The Ayatollah's

0:51.9

office said yesterday that they will not give up or give away their enriched

0:55.7

nuclear material to which President Trump said yesterday, oh yes, you will, or it's war. So, well, that's a

1:03.3

problem. The other sticking point is that Iran is still doubling down on their demand that they must

1:08.3

control the entire strait of Hormuz, charging tolls and deciding who gets to pass.

1:13.6

That would include, as I touched on yesterday, control over the waters off of Oman and the UAE.

1:19.7

As the UK's telegraph reports, reactions from the UAE, especially was one of fury, because as they noted, looking at the map, Iran's ownership would turn

1:29.7

the entire Persian Gulf into Iranian pond. And that's not going to happen, said the folks of the UAE.

1:35.9

So that is also a problem this morning. Still, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that there has been

1:41.5

a tiny bit of progress with Pakistani leaders traveling again to

1:45.6

Tehran yesterday to convince the IRGC to please do a deal. So we'll see if that Paki pressure works.

1:53.5

If not, it's back to war, likely early next week or as soon as this weekend. As Bloomberg and

1:59.5

CBS News report, the Iranians are now ready,

2:02.2

having dropped more mines in the Strait of Hormoos, at least 10 that we know of. Meanwhile,

2:07.4

the Pentagon has a pretty darn good targeting list as well, and an open checkbook. The U.S.

2:12.9

military is still counting costs from the last bout of war, and it's a pretty big number.
