My dad, he just said you're ludicrous.

Me and your mother have worked this hard to put you in the position that you're in

and to see you go through all that schooling. my dad was like to move somewhere you don't

like and those 10 and a half years you gave to radio like that's all going to

go in vain and I had to really contemplate what my how I was going to balance it all

so I finally just said you know what I'm just I'm going to do it anyway I'm going to move to my mom to Los Angeles and I'm going to be her primary caregiver.

And so I did that for maybe two and a half years while still working a full time job

while trying to just balance it all. And I had hired help, but it was a lot.

And I didn't realize it at the time because you're running on pure adrenaline, but I had dropped probably 10 pounds.

My hair was falling out.

I was extremely unhappy at work because I was just burning the candle from both ends. Hello friends and welcome back to the at the end of the tunnel podcast with me Light Watkins. On today's episode I'm going to be

preparation. Her name is Liz Hernandez. Liz grew up in San Diego as a self-described

radial nerd with parents who always taught her about the power of words. And then years

later Liz became the co-host of one of the most popular

shows on one of the biggest radio stations in Southern California and this led to a series of

other very prominent hosting positions on channels like MTV and Access Hollywood.

And then tragedy struck.

Liz's mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, so she took some time off from hosting to help

care for her mom and just before she passed Liz's mom lost 95% of her speech.
