Summary

The one and only, IBTAT joins the show this week to chat all things Appalachian Trail, Art Loeb Trail, and Pacific Crest Trail. We talk about why his vlog was so successful, his experience thru-hiking the Art Loeb Trail in North Carolina, and of course, his upcoming plans to thru-hike the PCT! Those topics are only the tip of the iceberg, IBTAT and I really jumped all over the place with this one.   Check out IBTAT's YouTube Channel to watch him head North on the PCT this year: https://www.youtube.com/user/htfu54 Like what you hear? What's going on everybody?

Welcome to episode number 22 of Trail Tales.

0:17.0

My name is Kyle O'Grady and this is the podcast where I, a through hiker and peak bagger and all-around hiking nerd, chat with other through hikers and other peakbaggers and other all-around hiking nerds.

0:30.2

Today I am joined by the one and only IBTat. Jeff Oliver is his real name.

0:36.8

He hiked the Appalachian Trail this past summer.

0:39.0

I was lucky enough to run into him and have the opportunity to hike around him for a couple days.

0:44.5

I was also lucky enough, clearly, to get the chance to interview him for the show this week.

0:49.2

So I beat at when you hear this. Thank you so, so much. I really appreciate it.

0:53.2

And I had a blast talking with you

0:54.9

Now what do we talk about for those of you listening? We cover a bunch of different stuff

0:59.3

We talk about his daily vlog that he did when he was through hiking the Appalachian Trail and and why it did so well

1:05.9

We talk about his through hike of the Art Loeb Trail in North Carolina, a small trail in the

1:11.6

mountains there that I really don't know that much about so that was kind of cool. And we

1:15.9

also talk about how IBT was able to avoid the burnout that many through hikers

1:20.8

face towards the end of a long, grueling through hike. That was something that I

1:24.6

really struggled with. So it was cool to get some insight on how he was

1:28.3

able to keep a positive mindset. And those are just a couple of the things we talk about. We talk about

1:33.2

a bunch of shit in this one. It was really, really cool. And we're going to get into it in just a

1:38.4

second. Now, I have a feeling that I might be getting a decent amount of first time listeners on this one,

1:43.9

some fans of IBT who might not have heard of Trail Tales before.

1:47.9

And if that's the case, welcome.

1:49.4

If you're a regular listener, welcome back.
