It is Tuesday, June 14th, 2016, and this is episode 22 of Backside of Magic.

Hey, everybody, this is episode 22, and we actually had an episode ready to go and in the can sort of ahead of our trip last week so that we could have something come out right when we got back.

And, you know, our show typically includes a lot of silliness and absurdity and wackiness and whatnot that is disconnected from reality.

And, well, we didn't feel quite right doing those normal type of silly things so soon after the tragedy in Orlando.

So we're throwing out that episode.

We'll push it down the road a little bit, and we're sort of going to throw together our thoughts here, just has them a little bit more on topic with the gravity of those events. And so if you were

looking for a little more of an escape from that. We understand if you want to skip this episode.

So like we said, Jeremy and I, we were down there Saturday night into Sunday.

And when we woke up, Jeremy, you actually saw the news.

You want to recall a little bit of how you came to know about what went down?

I typically don't pay attention to much news when I'm in the Disney bubble, and I figure

that I'm probably not much different than most tourists in that regard.

I don't watch news on TV when I'm there.

I don't really stay up on the news on my phone, but like most people, I do have my phone configured to get

alerts with major newsbreaking events and stuff like what did happen there. And so Sunday

morning, I saw that there was a shooting in Orlando, and I think I said something to you in the

room as we were getting out the door. It was still pretty early. It was before 8 a.m. or so, and I guess this was still an ongoing situation until just a few hours before that.

So anyway, I saw that there had been a shooting and there was very little detail in the alert,

and I didn't click through, we were on the move.

And I don't think it was until much later that morning, 10, 11 a.m.

that I noticed another alert just as it happened to come on my phone that saw, you know,

a count of people that had been killed and injured, and it was starting to get shockingly high.
