Today on the podcast I'm speaking with the famous anonymous poet Atticus, where we talk about poetry, art, anonymity, entrepreneurship, relationships and more.

Atticus, the anonymous New York Times bestselling author of Love Her Wild, The Dark Between Stars and The Truth About Magic, has taken the world by storm with his beautiful poetry and powerful simple themes of love and strength of the human spirit.

His fourth poetry collection, LVOE, is an exploration of self-love, meditation, meaning, loss and romance.

LVOE is a look forward, a look backward, but most importantly, a look inward to the often confusing yet hopeful human experience.

Hello Atticus, how are you doing today?

Oh, I'm great. I'm great. It's nice to be here.

Yeah, I'm excited to have you on. I think you're very interesting first off. You're my first anonymous guest.

Yeah, there's not. There's not that many of us.

Yeah, so can you tell us your story on how you became a poet and why you decided to remain anonymous?

Yeah, it's actually kind of serendipitous, so I never in a million years thought I was going to, well, for one, I would have anything to say and certainly didn't think I'd ever become a poet.

I was on this trip to France and I had a lucky meeting with an actor, a guy named Michael Madsen.

I don't know if you know who that is, but he's like the bad guy from Kill Bill at Reservoir Dogs and a Justin Bieber music video.

And him and I became quite close friends and one of the things he taught me was that he poetry had saved his life and he struggled with addiction and troubled the law and things.

And he very much attributed poetry to saving his life and this is really interesting for me, you know, growing up as a guy in Canada.

Here was this archetype of bad ass kind of guy and he was writing poetry and I think that was the first time that someone kind of like an elder in the tribe had given me permission to explore like a more vulnerable side of myself.
