πŸ“œ TODAY'S SCRIPTURE: Exodus 2: 11-22

11 One day, when Moses had grown up, he went out to his people and looked on their burdens, and he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his people.12 He looked this way and that, and seeing no one, he struck down the Egyptian and hid him in the sand. 13 When he went out the next day, behold, two Hebrews were struggling together. And he said to the man in the wrong, “Why do you strike your companion?” 14 He answered, “Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you mean to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?” Then Moses was afraid, and thought, “Surely the thing is known.” 15 When Pharaoh heard of it, he sought to kill Moses. But Moses fled from Pharaoh and stayed in the land of Midian. And he sat down by a well.

16 Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters, and they came and drew water and filled the troughs to water their father's flock. 17 The shepherds came and drove them away, but Moses stood up and saved them, and watered their flock. 18 When they came home to their father Reuel, he said, “How is it that you have come home so soon today?” 19 They said, “An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds and even drew water for us and watered the flock.” 20 He said to his daughters, “Then where is he? Why have you left the man? Call him, that he may eat bread.” 21 And Moses was content to dwell with the man, and he gave Moses his daughter Zipporah. 22 She gave birth to a son, and he called his name Gershom, for he said, “I have been a sojourner in a foreign land.”

famous and revered characters in the Old Testament.

0:25.8

But he didn't start out that way.

0:28.6

Moses started out as a baby as we all do, a baby whose life was in danger, his life was

cleverly saved, I might add, by his parents who, with their faith in God,

0:41.7

saved his life by placing him into the actual house of his enemy

0:46.7

And he was raised there until such time that Moses threw some bad decisions and a choice of his own, put his own life at risk by killing an Egyptian

0:57.0

and then the Pharaoh came after him and Moses fled from Egypt into a land called Midian.

And I wonder if you've taken enough time to stop and consider.

What is it that's going on in your life when you're in those desert years, maybe that's what we should call them,

1:15.4

those years when the mistakes you've made from your past seem to continually haunt you, seem to continually hold you back,

1:25.0

keep you from moving forward in some way.

1:28.0

What is really going on during that time?

1:32.0

I know we ask that question a lot. We say why God? Why am I here? What

1:37.4

are you doing? What am I supposed to be learning in this segment or this season of my life. But I really want to ask that

1:47.0

question on maybe a deeper level. Have you taken the time to look and see what was it that landed you in that place to begin with?

1:58.0

And what lessons do you need to learn about that?

2:02.0

That can help you in assessing and moving out of this dry season that

you find yourself in.

I believe that's what we're looking at in Moses' life when he's in this time
