It's 2025 somewhere though.

New Zealand and Australia are some of the countries that have already rung in the new year.

Kiribati, a small island country in the Pacific, was the first place to ring in 2025.

On the other hand, Hawaii, American Samoa, and other U.S. minor outline islands will be some

of the last places to pop their corks.

It won't be 2025 until Wednesday morning, Eastern Time. Also on New Year's Eve, a massive power outage in Puerto Rico has left nearly 90% of

customers on the island without electricity. Nearly 1.3 million users, including businesses and

residences, were affected as of Tuesday morning. Luma Energy, the island's electricity distributor, announced Via X that the full power restoration process could take between 24 and 48 hours,

leaving some folks in the dark as the clock strikes midnight, ushering in the new year.

The outage is just the latest power interruption Puerto Ricans have had to deal

with as the island struggles with a fragile and poorly maintained power grid. Luma Energy took over

Puerto Rico's power distribution in 2021. CNN has reached out to authorities to learn more about

what caused the failure and what is being done to fix the issue. In 2024 has not been a great year for Boeing.
