I'll be heading out to Chicago tomorrow, or maybe by the time this is you're listening to

So Preet and I decided to touch base real quick to give a quick overview of what to watch for in both the men's and

women's professional fields. In both races neither returning champion is in the race for very different reasons.

So on the women's side, Savannah Sun won last year's race, just won the Olympic marathon.

Surprisingly, not enough time for her to recover and get onto the starting line

in Chicago, but understandably, probably tired from the Paris Olympics.

And then on the men's side, it's just the unfortunate circumstances around

Calvin kept him dying tragically in a car accident back in February along with his coach.

It's been a year since he broke the marathon world record and ran two hours and 35 seconds and watching back those

clips last yesterday on the anniversary of it it's just super unfortunate because I feel like we've never

saw his true potential. There was you know the excitement around him possibly

attacking the two-hour barrier at the Rotterdam marathon this past April, but that never came to be.

He was possibly also going to be a member of the Kenyan Olympic team.

Seeing him on that course would have been crazy

but I guess we'll always have the memory of him crossing the finish line

I believe the Chicago Marathon Race Organizers have announced that there's going to be a moment of silence and just a remembrance right before the start of the race.
