I can't believe I'm saying this,

We're in the last few days of the year, which feels like that weird buffer time

when you're sort of full of cheese and unsure what day it is before the hustle and bustle of the new year.

So during these quiet days, I wanted to take a moment to really reflect on the highlights from the last 12 months.

So, Guy, in a sentence, what did 2023 mean to the world of gardening?

What were the big headlines from the year?

Well, this is going to be a really big sentence, Gareth, because I'm going to start off with the weather, and weather is everything in gardening, from a lovely warm, dry February, through

wet March, then cold but not

frosty, April and May, blazing heat in June, wet in July and August, then more heat in September,

and since the end of September here in the South East, at any rate, it's rained and rained,

we've had over 12 inches of rain since the end of September.
