Summary

This episode continues to cover skill position prospects in the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft. Emory Hunt joins Will Brinson to focus on the running backs in this year's class. 2 UNC RBs land inside the Top 10, but Emory ranks 1 much higher and 1 much lower than the consensus. Trey Sermon balled out on a big stage at Ohio State, but will his game translate to the next level? Jermar Jefferson, Khalil Herbert and Pooka Williams are names to keep an eye on as well. Then, we get to the #3 slot which features Travis Etienne, who some have as the top back in 2021. The Alabama product, Najee Harris, leads the way, but Emory still says not to count on a RB being selected in the 1st round.

0:21.0

So if you're itching for to watch it,

0:51.0

go ahead and subscribe to YouTube and you'll get an alert when a new episode shows up on your video feed, joining us now to break down, running back rankings. I believe with a potentially controversial list based on your appearance on fantasy football today. Emory Hunt, what's up, man?

1:08.0

What's going on, man? Always a pleasure to come and talk shop with you, bro.

1:11.0

Yeah, we got all we got all lathered up about the quarterbacks and the number three overall pick. In fact, you know what's ironic is the conversation, the reason we got all worked up about it is because we were saying people won't stop talking about the quarterbacks in the draft class. And then we proceeded to talk to each other about the quarterbacks for the next 10 minutes for the podcast.

1:30.0

But we're here to talk running backs and I kind of stunned Emory to see I won't call my guy, but I'm a big fan of his work, despite him carving up my team on a K for three touchdowns.

1:42.0

I believe a huge game or he microcarded both at huge games against NC State, Javonte Williams, your number 10 overall running back. Why is why is Javonte so low on your list?

1:53.0

Well, I think a lot of people get enamored with, you know, splash place and they're great because it kind of draws attention to what the guy can potentially be, but you watch them over an extended period of time and you see some minor issues within this game.

2:06.0

You know, vision for me is number one in how I agree running back. So that is weighted heavily. And I think Williams needs to see the lane before he's able to anticipate it.

2:15.0

So I think that's an issue right there, but he has good power, good balance, good burst. I think he's a good back and don't get me wrong. So I haven't with a grade that's probably like the top of the second round type grade.

2:28.0

And to be fair, completely transparent. I have the same. I have a half grade. He's a half point behind the grade I have for Nick Chubb. And the reason why I had Nick Chubb graded that low was I didn't think he was going to regain the burst from that from the injury.

2:44.0

It was so I was worried about that. So that knocked him down the peg. And so that's why I have had Nick Chubb with a 77 and a half grade. I think I have Williams with the 77. And that's partly because, you know, for Chubb, it was the injury for Williams.

2:59.0

I just think that he's more solid than game changing.

3:04.0

And reminder for those that don't know, and we actually played running back at Louisiana Lafayette. You can add number 20. I can't take the second number 26.

3:13.0

26. Yeah, with who's who's on the team is Ike Taylor and Charles Tillman for CFL Hall of Famer and Kyrie Saber CFL Hall of Famer. All kind of great.

3:23.0

You guys need a 30 for 30 on that that you are right exactly because it was so many stars man and coaching staff that are now coaching in the NFL too and CFL. So we yeah, 30 for 30. I'm all for it.

3:36.0

I like it. I like it. And I mean, I think that is some good context. So by the way, you can go to football game plan dot com slash draft guide 21.

3:45.0

One draft guide. This is our printed one out. Look at that. Maybe talk about a beast. That's it right there. That's full scout reports guys. I love it. So go to football game plan dot com slash 2021 draft guide.

3:59.0

Absolutely. Right. And purchase that. Make sure and check that out. You have plenty of time ahead of the draft to download that PDF or print it out if you're so inclined and check out Emory's grades on the entire class. He does incredible work deep diving on it.

4:12.0

And like I said, I think it matters too. I mean, you played the position. So you understand. And I think that's kind of interesting to me to see someone who played running back at a, you know, at a high high level at college.

4:24.0

I'm talking about the position and ranking the players and then the rankings coming out a little bit differently than the consensus because.

4:31.0

And this is not to knock, you know, Dave Richard, Jamie Eisenberg, any of the fantasy guys, but I think a lot of times, you know, the running back rankings, get twisted in sort of a group think fantasy kind of way.
