Hello, welcome to another episode of Papa Bear Heights.

It's mid-January.

What does that mean for me?

Well, I'm continuing to work on my Catskill 3,500.

I'm down to two winter hikes left and I'm finished with the 35 winter. I will have

hiked the 35 peaks in the Catskills that are 3,500 feet or higher in the winter, all 35 of them.

And that's been fun.

I really enjoyed that.

Thanks to that 3,500 challenge, I've actually

been introduced to winter hiking and I'm loving it.

Yesterday, I had an opportunity to hike through the snow after some fresh snow had fallen.

And when you get up a little bit higher on your hike, the trees are covered in snow, fresh powder on the ground.

It's just a totally different experience than what you can get in the other three seasons.

But what else does mid-January mean for Papa Bear? Well, that means I start thinking

about my goals, my plans, spring just around the corner.

It's exciting to see that we're getting more daylight now.

Yeah, even if it's just a minute or two here or there. I tell myself, gee, the more

daylight we get.

The closer does time. tell myself gee the more daylight we get the closer those times come when I can get out of my bike or take those longer hikes let's face it daylight savings time is

less than two months away.

Yeah, that's right. I do watch the calendar.

I'm guilty of it.
