0:00.0 | Welcome to the Pat Mayo experience diverting a little bit today away from sports, but it sports adjacent. I know a lot of people are cooped up in their houses right now |
0:23.0 | So if you're watching this like four years from now, you probably have no idea what we're talking about although you probably do, but during this self quarantine period a lot of people are looking for ways to kill time hence why you're probably watching me on YouTube or listening to my podcast the Pat Mayo experience which I highly recommend you go download but for me at home like I'm running through podcasts I'm watching Netflix I'm catching up on old books that I have laying around but there's a physical activity side of this that I'm just used to whether it's going to the gym whether it's going to |
0:53.0 | be going outside for a run everything like that has been kind of stunted so I'm looking for ways in order to keep active at home so we're going to talk through a few different methods of not necessarily training at home to get swole or anything like that but so if you can do just to feel physically active a lot of people right now that I've talked to are remaining relatively inactive they're not going outside of their houses and beyond the fact that you know if you leave your house you could contract a disease and you'll feel awful people and they're all |
1:23.0 | like a movement are feeling lethargic and they're not feeling great because they're not moving around like they're usually doing so we're going to try to talk through some different strategies today of just self workouts you can do it home I know there's a ton on the internet so I'm going to give you two giveaways to have right now give away number one if you subscribe to the Pat Mayo experience audio podcast which you can find in the description of this video and podcast leave a five star review draft Kings handle something you enjoy about this show you'll be in a draw for a 100 draft Kings dollars now I'm going to give you a few more |
1:53.0 | comments now if you're watching the video version smash the like button for the video leave your draft Kings handle in the comment section and either give me an Instagram account a Twitter account a YouTube channel that has good workout programs that you can do body weight wise at home that requires no equipment because no one really prepared for this so it's not like people have entire gyms just sitting at their house so different methods of how to actually work out in the confines of your own home are really important so the more we can get together as a community share around some good workouts I think it's going to be a good |
2:23.0 | to make everyone at least not go crazy sitting at home the entire time if you get a sweat going in the confines of your own home it's probably at least good for the soul good for your body to just to keep everything moving get get some movement in your life |
2:36.0 | the one of the big ones that I'm looking at right now I've been trying to take my son for a walk on the side streets just to get away from people every single day walk and fine I'm not a big walker to begin with but it's getting me out of the house it's getting me moving I've also been using an Instagram account called the JL fitness Miami |
2:52.0 | they have some good workouts on their body weight wise different circuits you can do that's on Instagram JL fitness Miami if you want to check that out and there's a whole bunch of other really great ones out there but joining me today to break this all down who might have a bit more insight to a lot of this is Jordan Jeske at the project Y E G and project is spelled P R O J C T no E in there and it's the underscore between the Y E G I'll put that into the show notes of the video and podcasts as well |
3:21.8 | if you want to go follow Jordan Jordan what's going on my man thanks for joining me thanks thanks for having me on brother yeah so what are actually what's just give a little bit of backstory about yourself and what you do right now and how you can help people get active in this state of sedentaryness |
3:39.8 | yeah 100% so I'm a personal trainer of Edmonton and I want a small personal training studio called projects and so we do personal training group classes and I specialize in golf performance on the fitness side as well but obviously we had to we had to close our doors on I guess on Monday or Tuesday we did so that's completely shifted our our business and what we're able to do so now it's just like trying to you know we have a big lots of group classes and personal training clients that you know we still want them to make progress and |
4:09.7 | and continue to move and stay healthy through this you know how long it's going to be so that's a big challenge for a lot of trainers for going a lot stuff out but then also for people finding good routines that work for them going to base on what they have access to. |
4:23.7 | So right now I've seen some places I know up in Canada good life fitness has started to do this and I believe berries all across the world has done this where you can kind of subscribe to whatever channel they have or their Instagram account and their |
4:39.6 | doing live workouts I even considered I'm not going to lie to you putting in starting to do live fitness videos like I'm going to get a hit of the curve on this content that I saw everyone is doing I was like I don't think the people want to see me work out I'm not a personal trainer I'm in like pretty good shape but I probably don't have the best form with a lot of the stuff so are you guys trying to do some online classes or anything like that or is that like phase two as everyone kind of wraps their mind around what to do next. |
5:04.6 | No, we've kind of already jumped started so like our big thing like even on Instagram my personal one too is very well provide as much value to our clients and just even just people around the world right so we put a lot of free content out in general but this is definitely kind of made us now pay up okay we got to really step up our game with what we offer so we just started posting stuff on the project Instagram free workouts we're going to continue to post up we just did our first live one yesterday with another local group called wide u fitness and I was |
5:34.6 | going to do a ton of live stuff but everyone loved it so we're going to put a little schedule out because we have like 25 group classes a week that we did with you know 15 to 24 people who come to the classes so we're going to try and create a bit of a schedule kind of going forward that people can jump into live because it allows them to still feel like they're part of the community right I think that's one of the biggest things for us during this time is even though we're self isolating quarantining or whatever we still need to be part of the community and make sure that everyone's kind of feeling like they're right there with you so |
6:04.6 | a live part of it is definitely a big component that we're going to be adding in and then we just created also a community Facebook group called project strong community you can search that up on Facebook and we're now just kind of using that as a way to be able to just connect people we're going to be putting nutrition tips workout tips |
6:23.8 | to play suggestions like how to you know things that do while you're self quarantining and stuff like that so that's a big part of it and we're just kind of really diving into that now so |
6:36.8 | So one of the big things I like that community aspect of everything that's one of the one reasons why I wanted to actually try and maybe why I thought about doing a live stream is that if you have a schedule and you do it every day that's going to be one thing now if I was going to do it once that seems like kind of a waste at this point so I'll probably just join someone |
6:53.8 | else's and do the workouts along with them but it's sort of a kick in the ass to get up and go do it as well like I can go search at home yoga at home whatever on YouTube but then I so need to pump myself up to be able to do it and if I get tired like five minutes into it will be like I think actually |
7:09.8 | having a live setting encourages you encourages you to get ready to go do something and then you stick with it the entire time because you know I have a there's an app that I use called seven minute workout it's all right it's |
7:22.8 | what I use when I travel most of the time I can do it in my hotel room you don't need any equipment to go along with it but it comes on with a very soothing voice to give you the |
7:30.9 | canton like keep it up and like that doesn't really work for me I switched it over to the drill sergeant one where the guys like calling me pathetic the entire time that really inspires me to go but I know it's different for other people but I do think that the communal aspect and having a trainer leading you through it encouraging you to go is going to be a way that you actually stick to doing and if there is a regiment there is a schedule I mean that's half the battle with work out the |
