Hey there, it's Gary Persian Sunday, March 11th. Welcome back to the ION College Fast

Park podcast. I got Matt Norlander here with me and it is a selectively Sunday. But honestly,

only for about four more minutes, it's 11.56 p.m. Eastern as Norlander and I sit down

to record this podcast. I've been on television with CBS Sports Network for the past three

hours and five of the past seven hours. Norlander, of course, has been handling a lot of the

writing and reporting for CBS Sports dot com. So we're getting to this late. We figured this

would probably be the case, but the bracket, obviously, is out. The one seeds were no surprise.

By the time we went to bed on Saturday, it was I think obviously clear that Virginia,

Villanova, Kansas and Xavier were going to be the four number one seeds in some order and Virginia

was going to be the number one overall. In fact, like there wasn't even another option usually.

And Norlander and I talked about this off of the podcast. Usually even on Sunday, there's like a

15 maybe a 16 that could a 17 that if the committee values x, y and z could, there was no other options

in this particular year other than Virginia Villanova, Kansas and Xavier. So no surprise at the top,

but there were surprises at the bubble. There were some seeding surprises. Norlander, I'll just

start with this. When you saw the bracket, your major takeaway was.

Boy, I had a thousand things going through my head honestly, because there are a lot of things here.

I guess the biggest thing initially with Syracuse was in USC was out. And we won't spend too much time

going over this, but that was shocking to me. And I don't think a lot of people had Syracuse in,

like this is not quite on the level of Tulsa a few years ago, but I think it's somewhat close,

because Syracuse for a lot of people that are paid to do this and the amateurs that love doing it,

if you are following a number of different bracket projections, Syracuse wasn't close to first four

out status. I mean, there were other teams that were there that were rightfully there, kind of,
