Summary

In this episode, I’m speaking with neuroscientist Ariel Garten, the co-inventor of Muse, a brain-sensing headband that makes meditation easier. Ariel’s research has mainly focused on Parkinson’s disease and hippocampal neurogenesis, but she also has a background as a fashion designer and artist!

Honestly, I was extremely impressed with Ariel during our conversation; she was highly knowledgeable about meditation and the impact it has on our lives and health, but also because of her integrity and balanced view as a businessperson.

I’ve been using Muse for a few weeks now, and I have been absolutely loving it.

Ariel is gifting us a generous 20% off both Muse devices! >> Click here to claim your special discount on the Muse S or Muse 2 and start 2025 with your new meditation practice.

Hey, this is Ari. Welcome back to the Energy Blueprint podcast. In this episode, I'm joined for the second time on the show by Ariel Garten, who is a neuroscience expert and the co-founder of the company that makes this device,

0:23.1

which is called Muse 2, or the Muse Headband device.

0:29.3

And basically the tagline of this is meditation made easy.

0:32.9

What this is designed to do is function as a sort of EEG, electroencephalography device that basically

0:42.1

measures the brain waves, measures your brain activity.

0:45.2

So you've probably heard of things like alpha and beta and gamma and delta waves of the brain.

0:51.2

And these are brain states that are associated with different things,

0:55.6

whether focus or alertness or sleepiness. And through sensing the brain and guiding you through

1:04.0

a meditation process or sensing the brain during meditation, basically this is designed to

1:10.1

help and train the brain to basically teach it how to better

1:16.5

maintain deeper meditative states. Okay, so it's designed to basically amplify or synergize

1:23.6

with your meditation to help you meditate better, basically.

1:29.3

And it's a really cool device.

1:31.3

I'll get there in a second.

1:32.2

I'll talk a little bit more about it and my experience with it.

1:35.7

Because, as you'll hear in this podcast, basically, I commit to actually getting this device

1:42.4

and using it.

1:43.7

Something I've known about this device for many

1:46.4

years. I've been meaning to try it out for many years and I just hadn't gotten around to it.

1:50.7

Even after the first podcast with Ariel Garten, I didn't try it. You know, I kind of have my own

1:57.4

meditation routine and I was a little bit resistant to trying something new.

2:01.9

This one, I decided to commit to it. I said, if I'm having you on for the second time,
