Summary

It’s the 200th episode! Cue the confetti and champagne! If you have been listening to me since I first aired in 2013, THANK YOU! It’s been 5 AMAZING years and I couldn’t have done it without you!

To celebrate, I have asked some of my closest friends and peers to share quick pieces about something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately…

How do you zig when others are zagging?

How do you “go against the grain”?

When do you take a risk and change things up?

And I couldn’t think of anyone better to tackle this topic than my small group of much-cherished and loved peers. I hope you enjoy listening to these as much as I have. Get ready to make some zigs happen for your own business!

If you’re wondering if it’s a right time to “zig” for your business, listen up to my four scenarios to help you decide.

Want a personalized message from me on instagram?
And if you want that new “outtake” of me sharing my personal story of zigging, make sure to 1) take a screenshot of this episode 2) post it on Instagram (feed or stories) and use #200withamy and tag me when you post it. Then I’ll slide into your DM with a link to this clip! That’s right, I will personally DM you...

Here’s a sneak peek of each of my amazing group of peers:

  • Jasmine Star gives us the inside scoop into how she invested a year of heart, soul and money into a launch that got her … an underwhelming amount of students. But then she decided to “knock on some digital doors” ... [12:50]
  • Ray Edwards shares the personal touch he provided for each person who bought one of his high-end programs. [18:25]
  • Pat Flynn starts off with a life-changing story from his childhood, then talks about how giving away a study guide for free became the launching-off point for Smart Passive Income. [20:03]
  • Diane Sanfilippo on why you need to be focused on creating paid content and programs. [26:30]
  • Julie Solomon offers up her own version of “Pitch Perfect” and how she took the initiative to start monetizing her blog. [32:01]
  • Tarzan Kay shares how she broke ALL the rules of launches, and executed a simple (no stress!) promotion that netted her five figures. [39:59]
  • James Wedmore gives us multiple examples of zigging, and asks a series of questions to help you come up with your own different “out of the box” ideas. [45:36]
  • Russell Brunson talks about how one T-shirt helped to reduce his ClickFunnels churn by 23 percent (!)—and build a powerful community in the process. [51:03]
  • Rick Mulready walks his own talk and tries his hand at Facebook Messenger for feedback about this podcast. The results may surprise you—because they surprised him! [56:51]
  • Jenna Kutcher gets real (as always) and tells you why she decided to go completely transparent with her messaging. [1:01:18]

0:59.2

Giving you more content. I wanted to go above and beyond with this episode and that is why I've asked some of my closest friends and peers

1:07.8

to come on and share about a concept that I want you to consider incorporating into your business. Now this concept is part mindset, part strategy.

1:19.2

It's the concept my friend James Wedmore explains as zigging in your business when everyone else is zagging.

1:28.2

You can also look at this concept as running your own race throwing group think to the wind and going against the grain

1:36.2

and doing your own thing. Now before I go any further and tell you who is going to be on this episode today

1:43.2

There are 10 online marketers that I cannot wait for you to hear from. I first want to talk about the reasons why you might want to

1:51.2

ZIG in your business and I also want to give you one word of caution about this idea of zigging before you try it out.

2:01.2

Okay so first how do you know it's time to ZIG in your business how do you know you're ready to do something different step off the beaten path and try your own way.

2:12.2

Or just really mix things up well since I know you pretty well I put together four scenarios that will likely resonate with you at least one of these I think will resonate with you so that you can really understand the power of a ZIG.

2:27.6

So number one it's a soul thing now that sounds weird coming from me I typically don't talk that way but I mean it sometimes in your business you just have this true desire to shake things up.

2:39.6

You've been doing things the same way for a while now and you want to branch out and try something new like I said you want to step off the beaten path.

2:47.6

This is me this is when I know I'm ready to ZIG and I think this year 2018 is going to be my year of doing the ZIG I've done things the same way for a long time and I love the simplicity of my business but I want to shake things up a little bit I don't know how I'm going to do it I've got the rest of the year to plan it out.

3:09.6

But you'll see me do something a little different this year than maybe what everybody else is doing because I have that movement in my soul I just feel like this is the time I'm bursting at the seams I want to try something different along those same lines this is still a number one the scenario number one you might just feel burned out and you might be tired of what you've always been doing and you want to shake things up so that's also a good time for a ZIG.

3:37.6

Now here's number two something in your marketing or the strategies you're using in your business just doesn't feel right to you.

3:47.6

I was having drinks just this weekend with my good friend Mary Hyatt and she was telling me about the launch of her online training program it's called babe redefined I love that name and I said how did the launch go and she said it went well I just don't like launching.

4:05.6

I just don't like anything about launching it doesn't feel right to me and in that moment because I know Mary so well I said oh there's no problem with you launching it's just that you need to find a way to launch that feels good to you.
