Volkswagen's ID7 Tora has been unveiled. This is their new estate, the wagon, whatever you want to call it.

It's for the European market, not the US, unfortunately, and it sits in what they describe the

upper mid-class segments. You can just call it the electric passat. And this is going to be a very,

very useful vehicle for people like me who love

this form factor. 425 miles or 685 kilometres on the WLTP test cycle and of course a ton

of storage if you don't want to drive an SUV. Now, Volvo is updating their names to bring everything nicely in line. And that

obviously means that the EX30, which is the new baby Volvo and the big daddy, the X-90, are going to

be joined by the, what is now, the EX40. Formerly, the XC40. So, no surprise. Also, the C40 becomes the EC40. So Volvo now goes

X30, X40, EX40, E.C40 for the coupé version, and EX90. The recharge name goes, it'll still

be used on some combustion stuff until they go fully electric in 2030.

VW's Scout Motors brand say that they are breaking ground on their two billion dollar production center

and that one of the best things is they're part of VW, which means they can bring a new brand to market and have all of that backing from

the parent company, global supply chains, cost reductions, production scaling, procurement,

parts, off-the-shelf components, engineering knowledge, and yet Scout will live on its own

with a unique body-on-frame platform for their pickup and SUV. We'll know more in the third quarter of this year when they tell us more details.

Staying with VW Group and Kupra, which is the fast bit of Sayat, which is the Spanish bit of VW,

they are unveiling the Bourne VZ, the most powerful model yet sitting on the MEB platform.

That is now 322 brake horsepower. That's like a Volkswagen Golf R, basically. This is the version of the ID3, which is my personal preference. I like the styling of the Bourne more inside and out. And it'll now have a top speed of 124 miles an hour, more torque, more power, and a bit more range, actually, from a 79 kilowatt-hour battery.

Fiat is urging the UK government to restore the EV grants.

Those of us who have been talking about EVs for a while in the UK will remember that the grant used to be very, very good at £5,000 and it

is step down and step down.
