Okay, I want to dive into a particular passage of scripture that's often used as a proof text for Calvinism,

Second Thessalonians 2.13 and following.

Many of you who listen to the podcast regularly know that I've covered all of these verses at one time or another,

And so today's proof text that we're going to look at is 2.13, which says this.

It says, but we must always thank God for you, brothers, love by the Lord, because from the beginning,

and understand historically what the context is. Again, we always want to talk about historical

context first. It's a part, the first step of hermeneutics is to understand who's Paul's

audience. What is he addressing addressing we know Paul is an

apostle to the Gentiles and most of the churches that he has started are predominantly

Gentile churches and that we know from other writings that he often uses the pronouns we

and us in reference to we the apostles or we the Jewish apostles bring to you the Gentile believers, our gospel.

And the mystery that's just being made known for the very first time, as we read in Ephesians

Chapter 3, matter of fact, let's look at that.
