This is the one person in the kingdom that everyone would expect David to kill.

This is the rival.

And this is a man who doesn't have any children.

And yet by the end of this story, David has made such provision for this man.

And I think that this shows the type of king that David is and the type of king that God desires to reign over his people.

And I think you put it really well.

Guys, it's great to see you last week to celebrate the 100th

episode. We hung out with some friends in person on the mountaintop of the Old Testament.

Had a good time, did you? That was great. Yeah, it was a blast. Tons of fun. And, you know,

now we soldier on. All right, we need to go down from the summit into more details from David's life. We're going to talk about today

2 Samuel 8 through 10. And what we will see, or at least what I think we're going to see,

is a portrait of King David, who is a man after God's own heart, who is used mightily by the Lord

to show people, to show God's people in particular, and the nations what God is like.

We see in these chapters that

David is brave and wise. He is merciful and generous. You might say, you might say, Sam,

we'll see, that these three chapters give us a extended portrait of David's golden age.
