Hello, welcome back to Scripture Central. I'm Lynn Hilton Wilson and this is John W. Welch with our Come Follow Mey in Second Nephi, Chapter 6, 7, 8, 910.

0:10.8

And it's a two-day sermon by Jacob. Nephi has asked Jacob to record this huge section of space in his scripture.

0:20.1

And as part of that, Nephi also asks Jacob to quote

0:24.2

specifically some verses on Isaiah. So let's start with chapter six. Okay, Lynn, would you say

0:34.8

that this is easy reading or hard reading? You know, All the Second Nephi is for a mature spirit who is seeking to understand a deeper connection with our Savior as our Redeemer.

0:50.2

I think Chapter 9 is probably some of the best messages we have on the atonement of Jesus Christ in all scripture.

0:57.5

So this is some of my favorite reading, but it requires a little more than someone who's looking for a storyline in speed reading.

1:36.4

temple last week in chapter five. That's built. And he said 30 years have passed since we left

1:42.4

Jerusalem and now 40 years have passed,

1:45.0

and Jacob was born sometime in that first eight years of leaving Jerusalem,

1:49.9

so he would have been over 30, and 30 is the age where a priest can begin serving in the temple.

1:55.6

He's worked in the temple, but probably not as the high priest.

1:58.8

I'm sure they're formalizing and adopting things.

2:01.8

Who has the right to build a temple? We talked about this a little bit last week, but starting

2:06.5

in chapter six, we learn that they had the right to build the temple, even though they weren't

2:11.2

from Aaron, even though they're not from the Levitical tribe, because of the Holy Order.

2:16.7

Behold my beloved brethren, which he repeats over and over.

2:20.2

I love this as the beloved brethren sermon. I, Jacob, having been called of God and ordained after the

2:26.9

manner of his holy order and having been consecrated. Okay, I think he is set apart, he's sustained,
