So let's first begin talking about covenants. We've talked about the covenant path several times.

And just as a brief reminder, there's two major covenants. There's Abrahamic covenants,

and that's what God's duties are to provide us pathways for salvation. And then there's

a mosaic covenant, and that's our duties and our loyalty back to God. And what God has asked of us has

been revealed at Mount Sinai. So you'll see these covenants actually playing out throughout

the Book of Mormon. In fact, they're very much on display in 2nd Nepi chapter 6 through

10. And Isaiah spends a lot of time on these two covenants. So if you can remember these two

covenants, what God does

for us, that's the Abrahamic promises and covenant, and what we should be doing for God and for his

children, that's the Mosaic Covenants. Well, if you look for those things as you're reading,

you'll see the covenants of the fathers that are often discussed in scriptures. And let's

actually talk about the fathers for a minute.

These people matter.

If you want to understand the scriptures, you got to understand the patriarchs.

First we have Abraham, and then his son Isaac, and then Isaac had a son named Jacob.

Then Jacob had 12 sons, and those sons are called the 12 sons of Israel. Why Israel?

Jacob's name gets changed to Israel during this nighttime encounter with God that he has,

where he wrestles with God and God gives him this new name. It's almost like this temple

experience. And so we know Jacob also to be the same person to be as Israel.

And so his sons become the 12 sons of Israel or the 12 tribes of Israel.

And it's the descendants of the 12 tribes of Israel or the House of Israel or the Israelites,

all these things refer to the same group, that they're taking into bondage and God send Moses to save them. Actually,
