Nephi chapters 1 and 2. Lily I think we could spend a month in second Nephi

1. There is so much here but we only have you for a certain amount of time so let's go into second

Nephi chapter two. I wanted to read from the manual and then share a quote from

elder Tad Collister. Here it is from the manual. Lehi's family was now in a new

land full of new possibilities. The choices they made in this new place would be

important for their success and happiness. Perhaps this is why Lehi taught his son

Jacob about agency, the ability to make choices. And then it goes through some possibilities

the manual does about things you might do with your family speaking of choices and

and then it goes on to talk about how God can turn trials into blessings and how

Lehi talks to to Jacob about that. Elder Collister in a talk called The Book of Mormon

Man-Made or God-given. BYU Devotional back in 2016. He was talking about how it's impossible for Joseph Smith to have written

the Book of Mormon.

He said this, even if Joseph had obtained some sort of historical facts from local libraries or community conversations

for which there is no substantiating evidence. The real issue still remains. Where did he, Joseph, get the deep and expansive doctrine taught in the Book of

Mormon, much of which is contrary to the religious beliefs of his time.

For example, contemporary Christianity taught that the to the religious beliefs of his time.

forward as taught in the Book of Mormon, and then he singles out second Nephi II.
