I'm John Batchett with Professor H.J.

Mackinder, International Relations, commenting on the passing of Henry Kissinger,

and how Kissinger took the Academy and translated it into policy.

The professor has mentioned the two major events in my youth,

which was the Vietnam War,

and then the opening of the pathway to China, to China Trade, a predicate for the

Chinese miracle which is a predicate for the Chinese hostility.

However, Vietnam, a country not much talked about in foreign affairs in this century, but it

dominated the news for 30 years in the 20th century.

Professor, your comment on Henry Kissinger

and making peace in Paris, the Liductau Peace Prize.

And was that understood by Kissinger as to be expedient as opposed to lasting?

Was it a surprise to him that it fell apart and that South Vietnam was rolled up so quickly by North Vietnam.
