And we're very pleased to speak to David Ayyud about the unclear landscape around Israel, given the events of these last weeks with a president in Beirut,

al-Qaeda's kindred of Cain in Damascus, and Hamas remaining invisible but at the same time predatory

towards the people of Israel and especially towards hostages. Bill, you have a question for David.

David, Reuters reports, and I'll read the headline,

final draft of Gaza truce deal presented to sides after, quote,

breakthrough, end quote, official says.

So apparently both Israel and Hamas have been presented with this deal.

What do you think that we've been told there's been a breakthrough in these deals for the last 13 months? Do you think there's

any teeth to any anything to this report or is this just the latest in a series of reports,

hopeful reports that there will be a ceasefire?

I mean, it's hard to tell, right? Because every time you hear one of these reports,

there's a possibility that a ceasefire may be around the corner. We just don't know.

I would, all I would say is given the past, given that past optimism proved fruitless. But every time these ceasefire

negotiations seem to be in the final stretch, they ended up failing because of one, one disagreement

or another. And there are several points of potential disagreement. IDF presence in Gaza after

the war is the ceasefire temporary or is it permanent, names of hostages, identity of hostages, security prisoners that the Israelis will have to release, where they will go, will there be deportations?

So how much Hamas or Israel are willing to concede on those specific points? Those are the hanging points.

Look,

those points could be narrowed, but narrowing the gap, almost is not, you're not done when

you're almost there, right? You still got that gap. And there's always the potential failure,

potential for failure in that remaining gap. So I would just caution against the undue optimism
